Tourism Authority Awards Capital Grants

The Johnston County Tourism Authority recently approved five Capital Grants for tourism related projects in the county. Two grants were awarded to projects in Clayton. The Clayton Center Digital Signage System received $5,250 for hardward and software to announce events, meetings and upcoming performances in the auditorium. Also, the Clayton Historical Association received $1,100


A Diamond in the Rough

I have heard the phrase, “it’s a diamond in the rough”, used so many times to describe tourism attractions people just haven’t heard of yet.  And Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center in Eastern Johnston County is just one of these attractions. 


Standing in the Cold

I just recently spent an hour standing in the VERY cold temps to help break ground on the Smithfield Recreation & Aquatics Center scheduled to open in 2009.  Considering the community of Smithfield and Johnston County Schools have been working on this project since November 2001, I guess I can endure some discomfort for one hour. 


So much to do…so little time!

One of the reasons I am so excited to write this blog is to get more information out in the Triangle region on the things to do in Johnston County.  As the official marketing organization for Johnston County, when I hear people say at local events, “they should advertise this event, it is wonderful”.
