Smithfield Holds Ribbon Cutting for new Recreation & Aquatics Center
The Smithfield Friends of the Park welcomed over 100 guests for a ribbon cutting ceremony, tours of the new facility and a reception on Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
The ribbon cutting for the centerpiece of the Smithfield Community Park is the result of 8 years of planning by many local citizens, and a newly formed public/private partnership between the Town of Smithfield and Johnston County Schools.
The new center has been welcomed with open arms by the community and now has over 1800 members. The center is buzzing with recreational activities, art classes, exercise classes, swim lessons and community meetings.
