My first BLOG
Welcome to my first blog on what’s happening with tourism in Johnston County. With just two hours of training with Lisa Sullivan of NBC 17, I am thrilled to be posting my first blog. So many citizens casually ask me, “What’s happening in tourism?” or “What’s the bureau doing these days?”, and there is so much and too much information to give, and I feel like I give pat responses that tourism is “doing great, our numbers are up 10%” or “we are so busy”. To expand our efforts to keep the community connected to our mission and activities to promote the county we are branching out to blogging.
We were so excited this past week to be in the national news with Samantha Casey & The Bluegrass Jam who just won the “Oreo & Milk Jingle” contest. Samantha Casey, age 11, and her dad Daniel Casey are from Selma. Their bluegrass version with fiddle and guitar accompaniment was inspired by their love of bluegrass music. Samantha often plays at the Country Music Showcase at Johnston Community College. Other local artists can be seen at The Clayton Center or The Flip Side. Check out the Johnston County Visitors Bureau calendar of events for listings of performances.
Congratulations Samantha and Daniel. We look forward to enjoying your music career for years to come!

Donna,
What a great way to get the message out about what is happening in Johnston County. I look forward to learning more about what the Visitor’s Bureau is involved in!

Wow! I had no idea about the Caseys! How exciting to have such talent right here, and for some of this talent to get some recognition! That’s amazing
